First-Year Memory
One of my favorite memories from year one was coming back to campus after winter break my freshman year. I think it was the moment I fully I knew I belonged here. Seeing all my friends that I had missed so much and being excited to start classes again is a feeling that meant a lot to me.

My absolute favorite place to eat is absolutely Ike Schaffer Commons for breakfast. They have so many different options like the omelets bar or the bagel section but I love the classic breakfast bar that has different options everyday! You always have tons of options to switch it up. I especially love it because as a freshman, my new student seminar class had a tradition of getting breakfast every week after our class time. It's a little nostalgic every time I go!

My favorite place to study is in the University Center (UC). I love seeing everyone and being able to say hi to my friends that walk by on their way to class!

One tip I have for high school students when it comes to their transition to college, is to know that everything will end up working out in the end! Don't put too much pressure on yourself to try and have everything go perfectly. Some things aren't going to end up working out and that is okay! Try to go with the flow and be kind to yourself!

Favorite Faculty Member
The staff member that has been the most influential in my life is Jenny Krzyszkowski, the Director of the First Year Experience. Ever since I've known her, she has been nothing but supportive and kind. Jenny has helped me through some very tough days, just by being there for me! She is the most enthusiastic person I know!

My favorite place to eat is Esker because they have a lot of food options and there's always something there that I enjoy.

My favorite campus memory was the involvement fair because it was the first time I was able to really see what our school had to offer. I was blown away by how many tables were outside the UC. I met a lot of new people, learned a lot, and scored a lot of free candy!

What does "Belong Here" mean to you?
To me, "Belong Here" means that I will always have a place on campus. There are so many ways to get involved, and so many different passions can be explored. Every time I come back after the summer, I know my favorite people and activities are here waiting for me!

Andersen Library! Nothing beats a classic library location to get in some study time or work on group projects. It also has snacks and coffee for when I get hungry!

My personal favorite dining location on campus is Wild Blue Sushi. I love sushi and enjoy getting myself sushi as a treat when I do well on exams.

Favorite Activity in Whitewater
My favorite thing to do in Whitewater is to walk the on-campus nature preserve. It is a great way for me to get outside and de-stress when I get busy.

What does "Belong Here" mean to you?
To me, to belong is to have connections. I belong with family I belong with friends, and I belong where I feel safe and wanted. Whitewater is a location in which I feel that I belong because of these factors.

My favorite memory from my freshman year is when one of my very close friends had a Christmas themed pot luck right before finals when she lived in Tutt Hall. We played a whole bunch of games, ate food, and dressed in ugly Christmas sweaters.

What do you love about UW-Whitewater?
I love many things about UW-Whitewater. I love how I feel at home when I am here, how my professors want me to succeed, my job, and the lovely people I have met during my college career.

“You Belong Here” means feeling that you have found a home away from home. Feeling safe and comfortable on campus, and making good connections with other students and faculty.

Look into all of your options, and visit schools if you are able to. You can learn a lot from just being on the campus, and it can help determine where you could see yourself going. Try to consider all factors like the academics, the location, and the involvement opportunities when making a decision.

Favorite Activity in Whitewater
Something I love to do in whitewater is go on walks to downtown and go to get coffee or boba there.

What do you love about UW-Whitewater?
One of my favorite things about campus is the athletics. I love watching all the sporting events, and playing intramural and club volleyball.

College Search Tip
Some advice I have for a new college student is to put yourself out there and get involved in what you are interested in. We have over 180 organizations, so there's something for everyone.

Favorite Activity in Whitewater
I love to take walks around the town and the nature preserve on campus, there are so many cool paths around the city and campus which allow me to go somewhere new every time I go out!

College Search Tip
There will never be a point in your life where you will have more opportunities to try new fun things in such a convenient place, so if there is at all something that interests you, go out and do it! It will almost certainly be worth it.

My favorite memory from campus my freshman year, was during my transition week for the King Chavez scholars program, meeting all my new friends, which I am still friends with to this day.

A tip that I would give high schoolers while choosing a college to attend I would tell them not to stress their decision and to trust their gut!
